about

This song is for and about those of us without a family to go home to for the holidays. It came to me as an imaginary B-side to Bruce Springsteen's "Santa Claus Is Comin' To Town", and so we did our best to pay tribute to the mighty E Street Band with the arrangement.

lyrics

Well I ain't goin' home this Christmas time
'Cause I'm never going home any more
There's nobody there to shout my name
When I walk through that old front door
I'm hanging out alone this Christmas time
Maybe watch the parade on TV
I hope you have a real nice Christmas time
I'll be fine don't you worry 'bout me

Wish I could be a kid this Christmas time
Get all excited like I did back then
Ride out to my best buddy Christopher's place
Compare my gifts to what Santa brought him
But one year we didn't go to my grandmother's house
And then Mom got too sick to cook
I never liked that place when there were people there I loved
And now that Dad's gone I stay away for good

So I ain't goin' home this Christmas time
'Cause I'm never going home any more
There's nobody there to shout my name
When I walk through that old front door
I'm hanging out alone this Christmas time
Maybe watch the parade on TV
I hope you have a real nice Christmas time
I'll be fine don't you worry 'bout me

I'll still call my sister on Christmas day
Drop in on a couple of friends
But I'll miss those awkward questions about
Who's gonna pray and who forgot to say amen
We won't have to sneak off to go for a walk
And we won't miss the parties Christmas night
But I'd like to see some folks I won't ever see again
And lie and tell 'em everything's all right

So I ain't goin' home this Christmas time
'Cause I'm never going home any more
There's nobody there to shout my name
When I walk through that old front door
I'm hanging out alone this Christmas time
Maybe watch the parade on TV
I hope you have a real nice Christmas time
I'll be fine don't you worry 'bout me

So I ain't goin' home this Christmas time
'Cause I'm never going home any more
There's nobody there to shout my name
When I walk through that old front door
I'm hanging out alone this Christmas time
Maybe watch the parade on TV
I hope you have a real nice Christmas time
I'll be fine don't you worry 'bout me
